Ghorepani Poonhill Trekking

Ghorepani Poonhill trek is a colourful short foray into the Annapurna region. The trail winds through patchwork valleys, dense mossy forests and past icy waterfalls where you can stop to cool your face. Around every corner is a tantalizing glimpse of the high mountains, whole horizons of which will be revealed to you as you reach the high points of your trek.

This trek in the Annapurna foothills to the view point on Poon Hill offers all the best of trekking in Nepal. Enjoy trekking in the spectacular mountain scenery through charming villages inhabited by the Gurungs, Magars dense rhododendron forests full of birds and deep sub-tropical valleys, all set below the Annapurnas with the picturesque peak of Machhapuchhare (Fish Tail Peak) dominating the skyline. At the climax of this trek you will climb Poon Hill at dawn to enjoy one of the most spectacular mountain scapes on Earth. As the sun touches the snow-capped summits the Himalayan giants, Dhaulagiri (8,167m) and Annapurna (8,091m) along with a maze of other peaks, slowly begin to appear, like magic, before our eyes. This low-altitude trek enables you to enjoy the breath-taking scenery of some of the highest Himalayan peaks. From the terraced rice-fields above Pokhara, we walk on good trails through picturesque Gurung villages and the world biggest rhododendron forest which, in spring, bursts with color. The dawn views of Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchare and Annapurna South, from Poon Hill are the highlight of this trek. Short, and fairly easy, this trek is a perfect starter for those not sure of their walking ability, or those who wish to make the most of only a few days.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01Arrive at Kathmandu airport (1345meters). Heartily welcome to country of Himalaya. One of Welcome Nepal Treks team member will pick you at the Tribhuvan intl. airport with the garland and assists you to transfer in your hotel in Kathmandu. After checking at the hotel and refreshment, you will be welcomed at our office. Brief discussion about trekking, introduction with the guide & porter and payment for the trip. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 02Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (823m), 6 hours drive.Today early morning drive to Pokhara by tourist bus. The bus goes through beautiful countryside and stop twice on the way for the breakfast and lunch.After arriving in Pokhara, you can freely explore the Lakeside area and it`s surrounding. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 03Drive to Nayapul and trek to Tikhedhunga (1,577m), 1 hour drive and 4 hours walkToday wake up around 7 o`clock and have breakfast at the hotel. Then star our trip with an hour drive to Nayapul. Nayapul is the starting point of our trek.Walking along Modi river, we soon reach Birethanti and then head up the main trail to Tikhedhunga. On the way, we cross beautiful villages, Sudame, Ramghai, Hile and then Tikhedhunga for the overnight at tea house lodge.

Day 04Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2,850m). 6~7 hours walkToday is one of the tough day of our trip. After breakfast we start our trek with steeply ascends to the Ulleri all the way through stone steps. On the way, Annapurna South(7219m), Hiunchuli(6441m). Beautiful villages with the amazing landscape and the mountain view are the attraction today. It is a pleasant walking through rhododendron and oak forests. We take our lunch at Banthanti where Mt. Fishtail(6993m) can be seen and then continue our trek. After walking long up hill, finally we arrive in Ghorepani for the overnight tea house lodge.

Day 05Hike to Poonhill and trek to Tadapani (2540m), 6-7 hours walkToday is a special day of our trip. Early morning hike to Poonhill for about an hour. Poonhill is the place which offer wide range of Himalayan Panorama of Manaslu, Annapurna & Dhaulagiri. The sunrise over Himalaya is really great. After having great time Poonhill, return to Ghorepani for breakfast and then continue our trek to Tadapani for overnight at tea house lodge.

Day 06Trek to Ghandruk(1940m), village tour in the eveningToday we have short trekking to Ghardruk. It is easy and pleasant walking through forested path, almost all the way down. 3 hours walk with occasional view of Annapurna bring us in Ghandruk for for the lunch. Ghandruk is one of biggest & modern Gurung village offer great view of Annapurna south, Hiunchuli & Fishtail. Overnight at tea house lodge.

Day 07Trek to Birethanti(1025m), and drive to PokharaToday, it is easy trek to descend from Ghandruk all the way to Kimchi and crossing Seulibazzar via Birethanti and drive back to Pokhara.

Day 08Drive back to Kathmandu.After Breakfast drive back to Kathmandu by Flight or private car/van . After arriving in Kathmandu, guide will transfer to Hotel. Until evening, you can relax and explore the Thamel. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 09Transfer to international airport for your final flight departure. You will be transferred to the international airport for your final

Before confirm the trip through our organization Trekkers, Travelers, Mountaineers and adventure enthusiastic should know following term and condition of Welcome Nepal treks Pvt. Ltd. We encourage you to read them carefully: When you confirmed trip, we need 30% down payment of the total price for advance flight tickets and hotel booking and permit process. Bank/credit card service charge should be paid by the clients themselves at the time of deposit. All payments should be made in foreign exchange Group leaders travel free for groups of minimum 15 paying or more. But we will provide 50% discount for a group of minimum 10 paying. (Flights and Government fees not included). Final payment to be paid before departure from Kathmandu or Welcome Nepal treks counter nearest to your tour and trekking destination. Payment excepted by credit card (4% extra will be levied to you as credit card processing fee), cash, bank draft, or bank account wire. We accept your last minute booking (2 days prior to tour departure date). If you wish to arrange your travel insurance from our Company, we will arrange travel insurance for you. It should provide adequate protection for the full duration of the tour and trekking to cover personal injury, medical expenses, repatriation expenses, helicopter evacuation, loss of luggage etc. Insurance: Personal travel insurance is not included in the holiday prices quoted. While every effort is made to ensure the safety of all participants, it is a condition of booking that you take out a personal travel insurance policy. To protect against unforeseen circumstances, it is advisable to take a "Trip cancellations and medical insurance policy" before your arrival into Kathmandu. Such medical policy should cover transportation costs in the event of helicopter or surface evacuation being required. This is especially mandatory for those taking treks in high altitude. Cancellation: Cancellation of a confirmed booking must be made by the client in written form; either by fax or email at least 2 weeks prior to the departure date of any trip booked for. The same 30% of deposit which is paid in advance for confirmation will apply as cancellation fee. Prices: Due to circumstances such as increase in prices by airlines, hotels, resorts, we may have to enforce changes in our tour prices and we shall not be held liable for these circumstances.
