Trek Osorno Volcano, Patagonia - 1 Day

We’ll depart from your Hotel and travel through Llanquihue Lake or Hueñauca( “Deep Place” in Huilliche – Mapuche)to Villa Ensenada to the skirts of Volcano Osorno or “Pirepillan” in Huilliche - Mapuche language (2.660 meter or 8,730 feet in height), to the entrance of Vicente Perez Rosales National created at 1924. After 20 Km., we will arrive to Las Cascadas village. After this point we will continuous for other 15 Km., gravel route which connect the old refuge “La Picada” in Puerto Clöker area. From this point, we will begin our 8 hours trekking climb up the north face of this madness volcano. This route was part of the Jesuit´s Route used by Jesuit Priests at 1640. During our trekking we will enjoy fantastic view of the lakes like: Llanquihue and Emerald Lake. Also volcanoes like: Calbuco, Puntiagudo, Casablanca, Yates, Hornopirén, Tronador and the great Osorno volcano. Time for rest, eat our food or take a lot of photos from this massive volcanoes. Now, we going to take the route call “Desolation Pass”, toward the skirts of Volcano Osorno (8,730 feet in height). As we head downwards to Desolation Pass, at an altitude of 5,610 feet between the Osorno and Cerro La Picada volcanoes, we will also see a wide variety of lava formations created by the lava flows that built Osorno. The vistas from this mile high vantage point are spectacular. While we will descend this trail, we will cross vast areas of black ash that have been brought down by the glacial melt. You will appreciate the might of the volcano as you will see the results of the ash flows experienced during her eruptions. During our excursión we will appreciate forest species as: Coigues (Notofagus dombey), Radales(Lomatia hirsuta), Avellanos(Gevuina avellana), Bushes as Murtilla(Ugni candollei), About wildlife, we will see Chucaos (Scelorchilus rubecula), Huet – Huet (Pteroptochos tarnii), Tiuques (Milvago chimango), Diucones (Xolmis pyrope), and others local birds. Part of descent trail will take us to Playa Larga to Petrohue beach, where we will pick up our transfer. A brief photo stop will be made at “Petrohue Waterfalls” before arrive to your hotel. End of our services.
